“The International BJJ Institute is a nonprofit organization that works to encourage as many people as possible to become and remain physically active through martial arts. Our vision is that everyone in the world, regardless of age, background or ability, feels able to take part in the BJJ sport or activity. Some might be fit and talented, but others won’t be so confident. In July of 2019, we created the first BJJ Institute, which outlines how we will work to make sure everyone can experience the benefits of our sport both physically and mentally.

Our strategy is built on firm foundations. We have taken our lead from the Governments interest to build an active nation. We have looked at best practice in other sectors – including private equity, consumer goods and the charity sector, and internationally. We have built on our own experience, but we will be adopting some completely new approaches, including a new set of investment principles, new investment programs and adopting a new measurement system to guarantee the quality of the sport.

We will also develop new ways of evaluating the broader outcomes of our sport, especially mental wellbeing, individual development and social and community development. This will help BJJ practitioners around the world and the organizations we work with to show how we are contributing to the Government’s policy priorities, strengthening the case for continued public investment in BJJ.

Together, we will develop Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sports leadership scheme for future leaders at community and international level.”
